• Day 159 | 27/366

GLORIOUS Retreat Day 1

Got home from school and packed super last minute. I was so rushed. Never again! I got to LV like at 5:45, thinking I was late but the bus wasn’t even there. Met up with my peeps and got my Chickfila omnomnom. I asked Brit to buy it for me because I couldn’t stop by to get some. lol I felt like a fatass being the only person eating on the bus. Brit was my bus buddy! In front of us was Cat and Augustine, behind us was Tan and Mary. Brit and I jammed to her iPod even though we weren’t supposed to bring electronics :x “STOP. And wiggle widdit. TO THE WINDOW to the wall!” LOL.

Our bus rolled to a stop at Circle Lake I think around 8:30ish? idk cuz I didn’t have my phone. We took our belongings straight to the community center (CC) and took our shoes off. The TAs made us play the lighthouse game to get us pumped up and mingled with each other and it did! It was funny being all crazy with everyone and there were many laughs haha. Then we had a JAM session! “Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord!” Everyone (well at least the front row) was dancing and singing, just enjoying ourselves. It was great!

Then we split into 4 groups to make skits out of an assigned bible story. My group had the 3 musketeers, Tommy, Mary, Gus, Dung, Jonathan, Jen, Matt? Man I don’t remember but it was a big group. Our story was about 2 women named Penninah and Hanna. One of them couldn’t have a kid and so she prayed and was able to have one. Something like that. Too bad we never got to perform cuz we ran out of time!

After that we got separated into discussion groups. I was just sitting there watching all my friends get put into groups together like omg I don’t wanna be in a group where I know no one… When Cat and Brit got called, they also called someone named Phi Tran, but I thought they said my name so I got up and then sat back down like a dumbass LOL. And in the words of Cat: “It was funny though, before we split off into our discussion rooms the person calling out the names came to like the last 3 groups and Vy was still sitting down near the wall. So Brittany and I were laughing saying how it’ll be funny if her and Van are in the same group. Turns out they were and we started laughing so much. It was all good though because they weren’t necessarily awkward I guess.”

So I was the first one to be called for our Piety group. I was happy because at least I had Minhchau left to be called to my group. It consisted of Minhchau, Kevin, Peter, Anh, Van, TA Steven, and our group leader Thay Phi. I’m not gonna lie… we were pretty freaking awkward. Like the only people who shared were Thay Phi, Kevin, Steven, and me. Nobody really wanted to say much I guess cuz we didn’t know each other well. Then we took a group picture LOL.

Got back together with the other groups and met Cha Lam! TBH I don’t remember much but he was talking about the questions we were supposed to discuss. Then we were dismissed to go get night snacks in the cafeteria! We had to sit with our group so.. it was pretty awk. Kevin and I were trying to get everyone to talk but yeah.. LOL. I had hot wings and tea, yum.

Afterwards we gathered our stuff and went to our cabins. I was excited because Cat was in mine! Cabin #4 consisted of me, Cat, Hillary, Uyen, Michelle, and Kimy, our cabin leader. I was surprisingly really comfortable with them! Us girls decided to sleep all in one room so we wouldn’t be separated. Our room had 2 bunk beds, with one bed bigger and could fit 2 people. Cat and I shared that one. We wanted Kimy to sleep with us too, so we tried to move one of the couches into our room but it wouldn’t fit through the door LOL. ): and omg the cabin was like a mini house. It had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, and dining room. When I heard the word “cabin” I did NOT expect it to be like that. I thought of a wooded room with just beds and no light or heat/AC LOL. But yeah it had blankets, linens, err’thang!

Anyway, once we got settled, we had a talk about how close we are to God as of right now and just about confirmation class in general. It was a really good talk though and I was glad that Kimy was our leader. <3

We all washed up and got into bed. I was going to try to sleep but I was wide awake. Good thing Cat was too because we both drank tea during our snack LOL. So then we ended up having a spontaneous heart to heart talk about every freaking thing. Like seriously we talked about boys, family, school, everything. By 4AM my throat started tickling and I needed water LOL. We laughed so much cuz we were talking about our old crushes and stuff hahaha good times. We were scared that we’d wake up the others but we didn’t. Anyway, it’s crazy how we met in 3rd grade. I never thought we’d end up being so close. Love you twinnie! <3

DAY TEN- ‘Fighting!’ Pose + CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

Today was the first non-stressful-work day I’ve had in what seems like forever! NO homework today. Classes were easy peasy and some were even enjoyable! Psych kinda sucks though because everyone has their own little group and I’m just over here doing my work like meep LOL but it’s okay. I’m surprised I’m not bothered by it as much as I expected. I’m used to being on my own now :)

I was gettin’ it in Choir today. Got my groove on in all the dances LOL yeee. Varsity rehearsals after school was good too; our treble UIL songs are really cool. I love the French one because I can pronounce all the words correctly while everyone else struggles, muahaha >:) makes me wish I’d had the chance to keep learning French.

After rehearsals, I waited with Ariana for my dad to pick me up. I finally mustered up the courage to tell my director aka Dougie that I wanted to give trying out for Chamber a shot. In class, she had called for all sopranos who were interested to audition for a spot b/c someone got kicked out. I told myself I was too busy for it blah blah but it kept bothering me at the back of my mind throughout varsity rehearsal so at last I decided, WHY EVER THE HELL NOT?!

Dougie was very welcoming and said she was glad I changed my mind about trying out. When I was warming up, my other director aka Likos-nator, was leaving and he said bye Vy, you sound good!! I love how sweet he is :3 Even though I screwed up a little on sight-reading due to nervousness, Dougie said it was one of the best sight-readings she’s heard today. Plus we usually do it as a class so of course it’d be weird to do it by yourself. Ariana was sitting on the side, cheering me on silently LOL comforting moral support <3 the Asian Pose challenge thing actually correspond with today’s events.

I’m sure some amazing sophomore All-Stater got the spot, but I mean, I just wanted to do it so I wouldn’t later regret not taking the opportunity when it presented itself. Besides, I have next year to audition too! All is good.

• Day 156 | 24/366

Stephanie lost a bet to ghetto-wannabe dude (she went for Saints but they lost) so she had to eat lunch with giant chopsticks LOL. They were as long as her arm. Our whole table was laughing so hard at her haha and this white girl was staring at her like wtf are you doing. They made another bet for the Super Bowl. We’ll see how that goes.

Dougie finally put us in our rows for Thriller and September. I’m not on the first row anymore because she wanted to have as much seniors as possible in the front, so now I’m on the second row. There are no sopranos where I stand so it’s awkward being the only one but I can do it.

• Day 153 | 21/366

Cat, Brit, and I got home from Grace’s and those two fatties attacked my Mi Goreng. We chilled and talked for a while. Then Brit started playing MBLAQ’s “This Is War” music video and we freaked out at the body rolling part HAHA soo much rewinding, it was great. Also watched the “Troublemaker” music video. That one was spicy. The rest of the night we just chilled cuz it was late and we were pretty tired. Knocked out at around 3am, woke up at 12pm.

We did our morning routine together LOL umm then we ate my mom’s bun moc for breakfast. Watching Bridge to Terabithia with them was hilarious because we kept making little comments about this and that (mostly about Josh Hutcherson) and we rewinded to the funny parts a lot. ”Shit my balls!” “YEAH. -double fists-“ We also noticed a lot of parallels in it to the Hunger Games and Harry Potter which made it even more interesting to watch.

After that we made Peeta’s famous cheese buns! (which Brit kept calling “cheese balls”) It was fun messing around with the dough and stuff. Teamwork ftw! Used a bowl and a small cup as ghetto cutters LOL. It worked though and they came out super yummy even my mama liked them!

While getting ready for church I had a sudden idea to make “This Is War” body roll gifs HAHA but we ended up making a whole video of us doing all the body rolls from popular kpop songs. I shall upload the video soon… lmfao. Then we had to leave for church because we were late. Sat in church, restraining ourselves from doing the shoulder roll thing MBLAQ does. It was hysterical omg. Turns out Peter and Anthony were sitting behind us a couple of rows the whole time! Talked to them a bit before I left.

My parents went grocery shopping while I stayed in the car. I blasted music from my old iPod and sang like there was no tomorrow man. It was so much fun. I couldn’t believe I still remember all the lyrics of those songs. I didn’t give a damn about people passing by or the security cop staring at me LOL.

• Day 151 | 19/366

Psych & Precal tests were pretty easy. “Studied” for test in APUSH but really we were just messing around. Learned the rest of Thriller choreo.

Volunteered to help this teacher then went to varsity rehearsals til 5. Dad picked me up, went home to get laptop, then got Chick-fil-A :D eet mor chikin! Man it was yummy. Got to Phia’s and did half of the APUSH terms together. We were so tired that we turned delirious… lol this always happens to us.

Went home and still had the other half to do. I was on a roll and didn’t want to fall asleep in the middle of studying so I brewed some tea. It did its job and kept me up til like 3-4 in the morning. I also finished my chapter notes! I was proud of myself. Plus I got an A on the test so it was worth it. :)

• Day 150 | 18/366

Um.. this guy—let’s call him K—walked with me to choir today. Idk, we didn’t even talk about anything important but it was nice. I don’t think I’m attracted to him but I do think he’s interesting. I wish I wasn’t awkward and always knew what to say so I can get to know him better LOL.

Started learning choreo for Thriller and it’s pretty legit! I’m glad it’s not some bs dance. Trying to pump up my game so my director doesn’t put me in the back like the other years when I didn’t like the choreo and didn’t try.

Did campus cleanup with Phia and Kyle for NHS, then went back to her house. I hung out/messed with Lola. Love that little bitch even doh she stank. <3 Phia tried to make it up to me by making me another mix CD. I cracked lol I can never stay mad at her.
